Amazon Web Services (AWS), through Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, is seeking a Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) Engineer to support the operation of a 24x7 Facilities Operations Centre responsible for critical data centre infrastructure.
The role sits at the centre of AWS facilities operations, monitoring electrical, mechanical and broader infrastructure systems across the data centre environment and coordinating responses when issues arise.
You will help turn real-time infrastructure data into operational decisions, support incident response and recovery, contribute to post-incident analysis, and strengthen communication, escalation and operating processes across the Facilities Operations Centre.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance. Applicants must also be able to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor data centre facilities infrastructure and identify emerging operational issues.
- Act as a central point of contact during critical site events and large-scale operational events.
- Coordinate communication and escalation across internal and external teams.
- Support emergency recovery activity across multiple teams and locations.
- Contribute to outage post-mortem analysis and continuous improvement.
- Develop and refine communication, escalation and operating protocols.
- Support the development of operational tools and processes.
- Maintain accurate operational records and institutional knowledge.
- Help develop and mentor operations personnel.
- Work within a 24x7 shift environment, including weekends and public holidays.
Basic qualifications
- High school or equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of construction or project management experience, or at least 1 year of electrical or mechanical engineering experience.
- At least 2 years of data centre engineering or operations experience.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 2 years of data centre engineering experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- At least 3 years of experience in a data centre or other mission-critical facility, such as a hospital, military facility or public safety facility.
