Events Coordinator: ACU Football Club

About the opportunity

ACU Football Club is looking for a volunteer Events Coordinator to take the lead in planning and delivering our two major club events each year.

This is a relatively small and flexible events portfolio, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to gain practical events experience, contribute to a community sporting club, or use their existing events skills without taking on a large year-round commitment.

Our events

The Events Coordinator would primarily take responsibility for two events each year:

• Trivia Night – June
• Annual Awards Night – September

ACU FC also holds a pre-season Gala Day, but this event largely runs itself. There is no expectation for the Events Coordinator to organise the Gala Day, although they would be very welcome to become involved if interested.

Key duties may include:

• Planning and coordinating the Trivia Night and Annual Awards Night
• Developing event plans and timelines
• Liaising with venues, suppliers and other relevant parties
• Coordinating event logistics and requirements
• Working with the ACU FC committee on event promotion and communications
• Helping coordinate volunteers and responsibilities for each event
• Overseeing event delivery on the night
• Identifying opportunities to improve the club's events from year to year

The committee will continue to manage football-specific matters such as determining award recipients and arranging relevant football information, so the Events Coordinator will not be expected to do everything themselves.

About you

We're completely open to someone with limited events experience who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills. Previous experience organising events would be useful, but it is not essential.

Importantly, you will have support available. Members of the ACU FC committee have professional events experience, including experience delivering events within Football NSW and the NSW Institute of Sport, and can provide guidance and assistance whenever required.

We're primarily looking for someone who is organised, reliable, enjoys bringing people together and would like to take ownership of two meaningful club events each year.

Time commitment

There is no regular weekly commitment for most of the year. The workload is concentrated in the weeks leading up to the Trivia Night in June and Annual Awards Night in September, as well as attendance at the events themselves. Planning can largely be completed remotely and the role can be flexible around the volunteer's other commitments.

About ACU FC

ACU FC is a community football (soccer) club based at Australian Catholic University's Strathfield Campus. We field teams across men's, women's and O35s football and are run by a dedicated group of volunteers.

Our Defence connection

ACU FC has an existing connection to the Defence community, with the club's President currently serving in the Australian Defence Force. We would particularly welcome interest from current and former ADF members and their families.
