Club Treasurer: ACU Football Club

About the opportunity

ACU Football Club (ACU FC) is looking for a reliable and organised volunteer to become our Club Treasurer and help manage the club's finances.

This is an opportunity for someone with an interest or background in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or business to contribute their skills to a community sporting organisation. It could also suit someone looking to gain practical financial management experience.

The Treasurer will work closely with the ACU FC President and committee and take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records and helping the committee understand and manage the club's financial position.

Key duties may include:

• Maintaining accurate records of club income and expenditure
• Monitoring the club's financial position and keeping the committee informed
• Reconciling transactions and maintaining supporting financial records
• Managing invoices, payments and reimbursements
• Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the club budget
• Preparing financial reports for the committee
• Maintaining organised financial records and documentation
• Supporting appropriate financial controls and record-keeping processes
• Assisting with other appropriate financial administration as required

About you

Previous experience as a sporting club Treasurer is not required.

We are primarily looking for someone who is reliable, organised, comfortable working with financial information and interested in contributing to a community sporting organisation.

Experience or study in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, business or a related area would be beneficial, but we are open to applicants with different backgrounds who have the skills and interest to perform the role.

Training, support and an appropriate handover will be provided.

Time commitment

The role is expected to average approximately 2 hours per week, although the workload will vary throughout the year. Much of the role can be completed remotely.

ACU FC's committee meets once per month, online at 8:00 pm on a Monday. The Treasurer would be encouraged to attend relevant committee meetings where possible.

About ACU FC

ACU FC is a community football (soccer) club based at Australian Catholic University's Strathfield Campus. We provide football opportunities for university students and members of the wider community and compete in Football Canterbury competitions across men's, women's and O35s football.

The Treasurer will become a valued member of the ACU FC committee and contribute directly to the ongoing operation and development of the club.

Our Defence connection

ACU FC has an existing connection to the Defence community, with the club's President currently serving in the Australian Defence Force. We would particularly welcome interest from current and former ADF members and their families.
