Amazon Web Services (AWS), through Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, is seeking a Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician to support the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure underpinning a dedicated cloud environment for Australia’s national security community and its allies.
This role is focused on mission-critical facilities and gives you hands-on responsibility across electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers and building monitoring systems.
You will combine technical operations with project delivery, contractor coordination, asset management and continuous improvement across capacity, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance. Applicants must also be able to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment.
Key responsibilities
- Review and manage routine and corrective maintenance across critical facility infrastructure.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance.
- Support the design, implementation, commissioning and build-out of new facilities.
- Develop and implement projects to improve capacity, efficiency, sustainability and reliability.
- Manage facility assets, infrastructure and inventory.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors and vendors working on site.
- Ensure work complies with established practices, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Work with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity and optimise plant safety, performance and reliability.
- Contribute operational insights to capacity planning and future facility development.
- Support the ongoing operation of mission-critical data centre infrastructure.
Basic qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in a data centre or other mission-critical facility, such as a hospital, military facility or public safety facility.
- Experience prioritising and delivering projects on time in a fast-moving environment.
- Computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 1 year of data centre engineering or operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Degree or technical qualification, including military or trade school qualifications at Certificate IV level, with relevant experience.
