Amazon Web Services (AWS), through Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, is seeking a Data Center Operation Technician to support one of Australia’s major technology programs serving the national security community and its allies.
This is a hands-on infrastructure operations role supporting the physical backbone of AWS cloud services. You will work across server hardware, networking, fibre optics, Linux systems and large-scale data centre operations, helping ensure critical infrastructure remains reliable and available.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance. Applicants must also be able to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment.
Key responsibilities
- Install and configure racks in accordance with internal service levels.
- Plan and track data centre capacity.
- Deploy and maintain cabling infrastructure.
- Prioritise and resolve trouble tickets and complex systems issues.
- Act as a technical escalation point for infrastructure and systems issues.
- Support high-severity incident response and coordinate technical resolution.
- Meet 24x7 on-call requirements as part of shift rotations.
- Work safely with equipment weighing up to 20 kg and in confined or elevated locations.
- Contribute to capacity planning, airflow, power distribution and infrastructure optimisation.
Basic qualifications
- Valid and active driver’s licence.
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to cover a 24x7 shift rotation.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in a data centre environment, including racking and stacking equipment, cable management and hot/cold aisle containment.
- Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP, Ethernet and L2/L3 technologies.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
