OverviewAWS is seeking Systems Engineers to support secure cloud infrastructure environments within the AWS Region Services team.This role is responsible for supporting operational systems, infrastructure reliability, automation and cloud platform operations across highly secure AWS environments supporting sensitive workloads.The role requires strong Linux systems knowledge, troubleshooting skills and the ability to operate within fast-paced operational and engineering environments.About the organisationThe AWS Region Services team combines AWS global cloud leadership with Australian security expertise to deliver highly secure and scalable cloud environments for sensitive workloads. Amazon actively supports veteran and military community employment pathways through dedicated mentoring, onboarding and support programs, recognising the leadership, adaptability and operational experience veterans and first responders bring to high-performing teams.The roleAs a Systems Engineer within AWS Region Services, you will support the operation, monitoring and reliability of secure cloud infrastructure and operational systems. Key responsibilities include: • Supporting systems engineering and operational infrastructure activities • Developing and improving automation, monitoring and self-healing systems • Supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems • Participating in production acceptance testing and hardware evaluations • Monitoring system health, maintenance and operational reporting • Troubleshooting infrastructure, networking and software-related issues • Supporting operational efficiency and reliability initiatives • Participating in on-call rotations and out-of-hours incident response when requiredSkills and experience• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Linux/Unix environments and command-line administration• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems such as Terraform, Jenkins or GitHub Actions• Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, operating systems and software applications• Experience supporting cloud systems or distributed services environments• Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP• Experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog or similar highly regarded• Experience scripting in Bash, Python or similar languages desirableRequirements• Australian Citizenship required• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance• Ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment• Ability to participate in on-call and out-of-hours operational support as required• Ability to work within highly secure operational environmentsJob detailsVacancies: 1How to applyEligible candidates are encouraged to apply directly through the AWS Careers portal.
