OverviewAWS is seeking an experienced Security Manager to lead physical security operations across high-security AWS data centre environments in Australia.This role is responsible for managing day-to-day security operations, leading contract security teams, supporting compliance requirements and driving continuous improvement across critical infrastructure sites.The role requires strong leadership, operational decision-making and the ability to manage fast-paced security operations within highly regulated environments.About the organisationAmazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, trusted by organisations ranging from startups to Global 500 companies.AWS Infrastructure Services supports the design, planning, delivery and operation of AWS global infrastructure, while AWS Data Centre Security teams help protect the facilities and systems that keep the cloud running.Amazon actively supports veteran and military community employment pathways through dedicated mentoring, onboarding and support programs, recognising the leadership, adaptability and operational experience veterans and first responders bring to high-performing teams.The roleAs a Security Manager within AWS Data Centre Security, you will support secure operations across critical infrastructure facilities while leading day-to-day physical security activities and security personnel.Key responsibilities include: • Managing physical security operations across AWS data centre facilities • Leading contract security officers and supporting operational security activities • Managing investigations, incident response and security escalations • Supporting the operation and maintenance of security systems and hardware • Developing and implementing security procedures, plans and documentation • Supporting audits, compliance activities and security reporting • Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders • Supporting after-hours response and on-call operational requirements when requiredSkills and experience• Experience in physical security operations and incident management• Experience managing contract security guards or security vendors• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills• Experience working in critical infrastructure or high-security environments highly regarded• Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced operational environments• Understanding of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) desirable• Experience developing procedures and operational documentation desirableRequirements• Australian Citizenship required• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance• Ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment• Ability to participate in on-call rotations and respond to operational incidents as required• Ability to travel between local facilities when requiredJob detailsVacancies: 1How to applyEligible candidates are encouraged to apply directly through the AWS Careers portal.
