Position: Volunteer Pastoral Care

What You’ll Be Doing
You will work alongside staff and fellow volunteers to provide pastoral and spiritual support, including:
- Providing a pastoral presence and spiritual care to residents and families.
- Offering a safe and empathetic space for residents to share their stories and find meaning.
- Supporting the chaplain and pastoral care team in delivering pastoral and spiritual services.
- Assisting with spiritual activities such as communion and worship.
- Upholding ethical and professional boundaries, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Reporting any concerns to your designated chaplain or pastoral care team.
Volunteer Characteristics We Are Looking For
- Values aligned: Compassionate, Respectful, Imaginative and Bold.
- Commitment: Days and times for volunteering are flexible. However, roles that build relationships with people require a minimum commitment of 6 months. You can discuss your availability with our team.
- Able to commit to agreed volunteering times, be punctual and inform your manager if something arises.
- A willingness to complete Uniting’s essential online induction and training.
- A willingness to undergo background checks, which may include a National Police Check, reference checks and other role-dependent checks such as a Working with Children Check.
- Person-centred and a great communicator.
Application Review Timeframes and Process
The ability to secure a volunteering position with Uniting depends on several factors, including availability at your requested location and your ability to provide all necessary prerequisites.
Once you register your interest, our team will review your application and attempt to match you with a suitable opportunity. An interview may be required before final selection.
While we do our best to accommodate expressions of interest, selection is subject to availability. Applications are considered an Expression of Interest (EOI), and a volunteer position is not guaranteed.
