BildGroup is looking for an experienced Leading Hand to join our Urban Civil Construction team based in Mackay, Queensland.

You’ll lead a crew across a diverse mix of civil infrastructure and sports field construction projects, including earthworks, drainage, pavements, landscaping and general site works. You’ll set the standard for safety, quality and productivity on site every day.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role. You won’t be watching from the sidelines—you’ll work alongside your crew, direct the day’s activities, solve problems as they arise and make sure the job is completed safely and to a high standard.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience in a Leading Hand role on civil construction sites
• Hands-on technical capability across earthworks, drainage, pavements or sports field construction
• Willingness to work alongside your crew
• A genuine commitment to safety and leading by example
• Strong crew management skills, including the ability to direct, motivate and develop a diverse team
• Ability to identify and address issues before they become problems
• Ability to read site instructions and work plans and communicate them clearly to your crew
• Current White Card (Construction Induction), held prior to commencement
• Valid driver’s licence
• Based in Mackay or genuinely prepared to relocate permanently to the region

Desirable qualifications and experience

• Sports field or civil construction experience
• Traffic management accreditation
• Plant tickets, including skid steer, tractor or similar
• First Aid certificate
• Experience coaching and developing less-experienced crew members
