Amazon Web Services (AWS)OverviewAWS is seeking Associate Systems Engineers to support secure cloud infrastructure environments within the AWS Region Services team.This role is responsible for supporting operational systems, troubleshooting technical issues, improving automation and helping maintain highly secure and scalable AWS environments supporting sensitive workloads.The role requires strong Linux systems knowledge, technical problem-solving skills and the ability to operate within fast-paced operational and engineering environments.About the organisationThe AWS Region Services team combines AWS global cloud leadership with Australian security expertise to deliver highly secure and scalable cloud environments for sensitive workloads.AWS Region Services supports secure operations across key capability areas including Compute & Machine Learning, Security Identity & Compliance, and Storage & Databases, while helping customers deliver critical missions securely and reliably.Amazon actively supports veteran and military community employment pathways through dedicated mentoring, onboarding and support programs, recognising the leadership, adaptability and operational experience veterans and first responders bring to high-performing teams.The roleAs an Associate Systems Engineer within AWS Region Services, you will support the operation, monitoring and reliability of secure cloud infrastructure and operational systems.Key responsibilities include: • Supporting Linux-based operational systems and infrastructure • Troubleshooting operational issues and identifying root causes • Supporting automation and operational improvement initiatives • Monitoring system health, metrics and operational performance • Supporting change management and production system updates • Assisting with scripting and automation activities • Supporting operational issue resolution and service reliability activities • Participating in on-call rotations and out-of-hours incident response when requiredSkills and experience• Minimum 1 year’ experience working with Linux/Unix environments and command-line administration• Experience troubleshooting scalable Linux systems and operational environments• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Ruby• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills• Understanding of networking fundamentals and operational systems• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems highly regarded• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet or Ansible desirableRequirements• Australian Citizenship required• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance• Ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment• Ability to participate in on-call and out-of-hours operational support as required• Ability to work within highly secure operational environmentsJob detailsVacancies: 1How to applyEligible candidates are encouraged to apply directly through the AWS Careers portal.
